Enhancement in Isolated Practices Program

May 2004 preceptor workshop

The Enhancement of Isolated Practise Program has been developed to provide relevant work-related education for health practitioners in rural, remote and isolated practice.

The course provides professional development that increases a health worker’s ability to effectively implement primary health care by improving knowledge of key concepts, equipping health professionals with a range of skills essential to everyday practice and facilitating the application of the knowledge and skills into practice.

Modules are aimed at health professionals with different levels of expertise. The program includes the development of stronger assessment and clinical skills relevant to remote practice; the development of skills for health practitioners to work effectively with communities, therefore enhancing community understanding; and enhancing primary health care practice of health practitioners already working in a rural or remote setting – helping the practitioner put theory into practice.
